Rick Warren on Larry King Live
I was saddened to hear Rick Warren's commentary on gay marriage & how he thinks Obama is doing as president. He basically says that he didn't go to a meeting, or make a statement or an endorsement in regards to Prop 8 & that what's happening in Iowa--which, like VT, just changed the definition of marriage--isn't even on his radar. He said, "I'm totally oblivious...that's not even on my agenda." Here's what he said was his agenda: Rwanda & the Spiritual impact of the recession on the nation.
He did say that marriage should be defined as between a man & woman. GOOD! Now stand up for that instead of being so wishy washy! I like gay people too, I just don't like their lifestyle! I don't think anyone but a man & woman should be allowed to get married--it's GOD'S PLAN! And because I feel so strongly about the traditional marriage I am taking a stand. What does it say if one of the more influential people in the Christian community says that he is oblivious to what's happening in our country in this regard?
And what are we to make of his comments that he thinks the President is doing? He said, "I think he's doing the best as he can. I think he's a good leader, every leader makes mistakes, so what? He's doing the best he can. The deck of cards he was given no president has been given this in a long, long time, in terms of the crises he's been having to deal with. It is so complex & it's not going to be solved overnight & America has a very short attention span." All I can say to that is Wow! I didn't ever expect him to sound so liberal.
