Mother's Day
Bill had a gig in Ellsworth last night & we knew he wouldn't get home until the wee hours of Sunday morning, so instead of getting up early this morning & making me a yummy breakfast, he did it yesterday morning. He made me my favorite--fried eggs & toast. Normally I like bacon with it, but I've had a bit of a head cold the last few days & my acid reflux was acting up so we skipped the bacon. We had also planned on going to Barley Joe's (a local greenhouse) to get some plants for our "patio" garden. That's what I wanted as my gift. We put that off until next week. We did go to Wal-Mart, took a nap & after Bill left for his gig the kid's & I watched a movie & had supper.
Today we had pastries & muffins from the grocery store. Julia made me a card & a gift certificate for her "day spa", which includes a manicure, facial & back rub. Can't wait to cash that in! Bill tried to steal it from me, but Julia made him give it back. :) Then church, where Pastor Dave unexpectedly (at least for me) preached from the book of Esther. I had not heard Esther preached from the motherhood perspective before & I really enjoyed it. After church we went to Mom's for lunch & Bill & Dwane made steak & vidalia onions on the grill with a side of herbed rice & ice cream cake for dessert. Everything was delicious. This afternoon I played outside with the boys for about an hour and a half while Bill took a nap. They were filthy from head to toe, so they had a long bath, supper & they are now in bed. All in all it was a nice Mother's Day. Tomorrow, when I am hopefully a little less tired, I have a post in my head that's a little more philosophical, but tonight I just wanted to get the story of what the day was like written for posterity! :)
