What A Great Weekend!
My "weekend" actually started on Thursday. I took the kids to my parents in the morning. I stayed for awhile & visited. When I got home I did a whole lot of nothing! Then around noon I went to lunch at the Brass Compass with Bill, his boss Jason, Jason's wife (& my friend) Allison & Jacob (a friend who works at the computer store owned by Jason's mom). I came home & did a little housework. Then I ran some errands, met with our financial planner & came home...again. Around 5:30 Bill picked me up & we headed to Tenants Harbor for a fundraising auction. A young man had died & his family needed help with the final expenses. We bid on & won a Turtle Brownie Cheesecake. It was delicious! Then we came home, for me it was the 4th time that day! I was tired & didn't stay up terribly late, even though I knew I could sleep in if I wanted.
Friday morning I actually got up pretty early, 7:45, considering there was no one to wake me! I got a bit of housework done & then at 11 I had a hair appointment. I didn't have my hair drastically redone, I really just needed a good trim, so it didn't take a long time. I ran a few more errands, came home & took a quick nap (about an hour) & finished up the cleaning I had started that morning. Bill was taking me to a surprise dinner, so about 6:30 I started getting ready. I actually took time to do my hair & make up! I bought new shoes, a dark red velvet with a sparkly strap. Bill likes pointy shoes, but I have always thought they would hurt. I went to Wal-Mart & found them on the markdown rack. They are pointy toed, but don't have a really high heel. I wouldn't want to walk very far or stand for hours in them, but they are actually not terribly uncomfortable. The surprise restaurant was Prism Glass Gallery & Cafe. I had no idea it was anything but a gallery. The restaurant is small, but beautiful. The food was so delicious! To start we split a Grilled Romaine Salad. My entree was Rosemary Garlic Encrusted Lamb Chops, served with roasted potatoes & a medley of veggies. The lamb was cooked perfectly, the potatoes were crunchy on the outside & tender inside & the veggies were crisp. Bill had Portobello Mushroom Ravioli. For dessert we split a piece of Italian Lemon Cream Cake--yum!
We then went to Gilbert's Public House in Camden because Bill's friends Mack & Harvey were playing with their band. It was the strangest experience. At one point I leaned over to Bill & asked if we had stepped into the Twilight Zone or if we were being filmed for some sort of candid camera show. I would say that I guess I'm getting old, but honestly that type of thing has never appealed to me. When we were dating I would often go to Bill's gigs, but I always hung out with the other wives & girlfriends & I didn't go to get drunk. I think you are having the wrong kind of fun if you have to get drunk to have it. I don't think we even stayed a 1/2 hour.
Saturday Bill made me my favorite breakfast: fried eggs, toast & bacon. I finished changing over the kids & my clothes from winter to spring & around 11:45 we left for my parents house. We packed up their stuff & off we all went to the circus. It was a great show, especially a pair of clowns that, I think, are husband & wife. The boys got pretty antsy at times, but they enjoyed the clowns & the animal acts, but their favorite was the motorcycle act at the very end. We all went to Friendly's for supper, which was good, but really paled in comparison to our Friday dining experience. And I am happy to say that no one threw up on the ride home! :)
Sunday was church in the morning & then we attended Maddox's 2nd Birthday party (son of our friend's Micheal & Erica Robishaw). Erica made chicken parm & had a large spread of a variety of other foods. Dessert included a homemade Basketball cake, baseball cupcakes & football brownies. Really good. We went home & everyone had a nap, except Bill. When I woke up I didn't feel well & ended up throwing up. Matthew had a really mushy poop & said he didn't feel good, so we stayed home from church & watched Madagascar (for the hundredth time). Today, I am thankful to say, was back to our normal routine.
